Livonia's manufacturing and industrial heart is mainly focused in a 6-square-mile strip combining major railway and freeway access the whole of the metropolitan region. But, who would ever want to leave when Livonia is such a great place to work, live and play! Recreational choices abound, with a collection of parks serving as a great place for families and groups to gather for picnics and outdoor activities. The city has 60 parks (36 developed and 24 undeveloped). The parks also offer play areas at 22 neighborhood parks for all ages, six miles of nature paths, grill areas, pavilions, and more.
The city’s parkland also contains three, yes three!, 18-hole public golf courses; a new out-of-doors Splash Zone, two ice arena; two outdoor swimming pools; seven in-line skating courts; 10 sand volleyball courts; and an archery range – among many other attractions. There is something to do in every season! In the winter, you do not have to stay locked up in your house, the town also has a state-of-the-art Community Recreation Center, featuring: a huge pool slide, pool with water sprays, competitive pool, two gyms, activity courts, training equipment, indoor track, climbing wall, group fitness room, gathering rooms and much more.
