Grosse Ile is an island located on the Detroit River. The island is the most populated island in the state of Michigan. Gross Ile is part of Wayne County and has a population of approximately 10,894 residents. In 1776, the Potawatomi Indians gave the island to French explorers. The island was surveyed and incorporated into the Monguagon Township in 1829. In 1914, the island received autonomy.

The island is home to three courses, Water’s Edge Municipal, West Shore Golf Club, and Grosse Ile Golf Club & Country Club, which all offer scenic views and ideal ranges. Grosse Ile is located in a region that is characterized by mild summers and cool winters. During the coolest months of the year, daytime temperatures average from the low to mid-30s. In addition to cool temperatures, Grosse Ile also experiences plenty of snow. The January receives an average snowfall of almost 12 inches every year. Residents will find it wise to invest in a heating system that is capable of withstanding plenty of use. The summer season is very welcome on Grosse Ile after a long winter. Average temperatures during the months of June, July, and August tend to average in the low-80s during the day and in the low-60s at night. Although temperatures during the summer season are typically mild, temperatures have reached into the 100s.
