About Flat Rock, MI - Happy to be your hometown Heating & Air Conditioning Contractor!

Flat Rock is an idyllic, safe and family-oriented suburban Michigan community.  It is quiet and you will see kids out riding bikes in the summer or sledding in the winter.  There are many people whose family ties in this area go back 200 years or more. The first white settlers arrived in in Flat Rock between 1811 and 1820.  They were Michael Vreeland and his five grown sons. Michael had been captured during the Revolutionary War but was released when the war ended.  The family purchased 800 acres and called their newly formed town, the Village of Vreeland. The Vreeland families constructed the first grain and lumber mill in town and are prominent historical figures in the area. Descendants of Michael Vreeland still live in Flat Rock, and the surrounding area.

The town enjoys seasonal weather which means it experiences hot or warm summers and cool/cold autumns and winters.  This makes it a great place to live for those who are looking for a true American community experience with sunscreen in the summers, and snow boots in December.  Though the area has been inhabited for centuries, it was not until 1923 that the area was incorporated as a village, and called Flat Rock. Then, later, it was recognized as a city in 1965. While Flat Rock is a quickly growing modern city now, it maintains that "small town" feel that we all desire.   Many of its residents have ties in the area going back centuries, and the neighbors are the proud that this is their home.  During World War II, Nan-Bar Airport, located in town, served as an accessory airfield for Naval Air Station Grosse Ile. Navy aviators used the airfield for short field landing training. It was also used for emergency landings.

Flat Rock's enormous progress from a small village to a medium-sized suburb began with the creation of Huron River Estates in the 1950s.  The preplanned suburban community was built at a time when many American towns were experimenting with building subdivisions for easy, safe, affordable suburban living. The housing development was a great success and Flat Rock has not looked back since.  People can enjoy the many parks in the area in the summer, or check out local sports in autumn and spring.  The town is quintessentially suburban and cozy.
